What is Personal Color?
Personal Color is not one color, but a series of colors that are curated and selected through a comparison draping process to see which colors look best on you for your clothing. This process can also be used for finding out the best hair color, makeup colors, jewelry, and nail colors a person can wear.
How is Personal Color curated and selected?
At Hybrid Rainbow Studio, I use various lighting (sunlight, indoor lighting, and low light indoor lighting) and fabric draping to compare colors against the skin. I have a patented machine to check the pigment color of the skin and assess the best foundation colors, and makeup palette draping to check what colors would look best.
Why is fabric draping so important?
Fabric draping is the most accurate way to find someone’s personal color, as the color of the fabric reflects on the face and can be assessed by a licensed expert. The studio lighting is stable, also allowing for more accurate results.
Does Hybrid Rainbow Studio use real Korean Personal Color methods?
Yes! The system used at Hybrid Rainbow Studio is the Korean Standard System used by all Korean fashion and makeup brands. I even went to Korean beauty schools for 4 years and learned the Korean Standard Personal Color System and the PCCS Korean and Japanese system in Korean.
Does Personal Color work for all skin types?
Yes. The Korean Standard System is very similar to international color systems such as Pantone, used in fashion, makeup, interior, and advertising. These days, Korean makeup brands are aware of their international popularity and are expanding color lines for different markets. At Hybrid Rainbow Studio, I recommend Korean beauty products and international makeup brands, whichever best suits the customer’s needs, style, and interest.
Do people only have one Personal Color?
No. Since your face skin is different from your hands and your skin may differ on other parts of the body, only one personal color matching is very unlikely. Additionally, Personal Color results can be influenced by the image you would like to have.
Are all people only warm or cool toned?
Each person has unique skin, features, and body shape. Using only two categories is so limiting. There are 4 seasons divided into 12 sub seasons. A person usually is not only one of these 12 sub seasons, since face skin and body skin is different. People can have several different sub seasons for each part of the body.
Can your personal color change?
Yes. Age, skin condition, and weight changes can be big contributors to personal colors changing. Additionally, may want to check your personal color again if you want to change or update your image.
